Comprehensive schools in Lapland

 

Basic education is free of charge in Finland. Children usually go to comprehensive school at the age of seven. It normally takes nine years to complete the comprehensive level. According to law, school attendance is compulsory to children aged 7-16 years, which means that they must complete basic education or their parents must arrange the education in some other way.
