Infographic: 10 facts about tourism in Lapland 2020

Tourism in Lapland continued to grow in 2019. A total of 3.1 million overnight stays were registered, the increase was 4 percent compared to the previous year.

Both domestic and international overnight stays increased at the same rate. In the international markets, overnights form France, China and the US recorded the highest growth.

On a monthly basis, the number of overnight stays remained highest in December, March, February and January. However, year-round tourism has strengthened, as during the snow-free period (May-October) tourism increased more than during the winter season (+ 7%).

Turnover in the tourism industries grew strongly, up to 20 percent in travel agencies, tour operators and reservation services and 15 percent in the accommodation sector (2018).
