Metsähallitus is the state-owned company that manages Finland’s national parks, multi-use forests, the wildlife service and more. Metsähallitus Forestry handles state-owned forests, while National Parks Finland safeguards and maintains national parks and other protected areas, hiking services and cultural heritages. Wildlife Service Finland supervises hunting and fishing services. Metsähallitus has offices, nature and visitor centers and more located throughout Lapland and the rest of the country.
National parks, nature reserves and wilderness areas all fall under the purview of National Parks and Wildlife Services Finland. They have the most comprehensive and accurate technical information about Lapland’s wilderness nature, and the sceneries offered.
Everyman’s Right grants everyone the right to film in most wilderness areas in Lapland. However, there are some protected and prohibited areas, such as strict nature reserves and conservation areas. Keep in mind: you always need a permit for off-road traffic.
