Keminmaa – A green community of people and businesses at the heart of Sea Lapland

For many enterprises, Keminmaa’s location between Kemi and Tornio is ideal: Kemi-Tornio Airport is partly in Keminmaa, and thanks to the motorway, the municipality is only a 15-minute ride from Sweden. Furthermore, the year-round ports of Kemi and Tornio are easily accessible, and a railway line runs through the municipality’s business park.

Keminmaa has a vibrant industrial scene, car and machinery sales businesses and companies that serve the big industry in Sea Lapland. In addition to this, the largest underground mine in Finland, Outokumpu’s Elijärvi mine, where Europe’s biggest known chrome deposits are located, is in Keminmaa.

Keminmaa—like all the other municipalities in Sea Lapland—benefits from the large-scale projects in the surrounding communities, such as Metsä Fibre’s multibillion-euro bioproduct mill in Kemi. Keminmaa is also in the process of building Rajakangas business park, which will be perfectly suited to industrial, storage and logistics businesses, thanks to its location and generously sized plots.
